Do you know what a bibliography is? It is where you cite your sources that you used in a paper. #

Update for 11/25/2007

This weekend started off pretty bad for me in that I was in a very grouchy mood. After Thanksgiving, I came home to do some school work and was just overwhelmed. I was so stressed out Friday morning about finances, school work, things breaking, that I posted a very negative post on my blog but I later removed it. I ended it with a statement that I give up and will just turn it over to God. I told God that if He could perform some of the miracles, then I would post about them and tell everyone.

Well Friday the car started dying on us for no apparent reason. My wife was out driving around and she stopped at Hudiburg Chevrolet to get it check out. They did a test and found that it had been recalled for some switch coil that had gone out. This failure made the catalytic converter go out as well as something else. They fixed it before telling her the price so they agreed not to charge her at all. That was a miracle for sure because we were really financially struggling lately.

Then I started doing one of my school lessons and was so overwhelmed that I just quit. Yesterday I started back on my work thinking it would be a miracle if I ever caught up. I worked until 9:00 pm last night and completed my 21 page annotated bibliography. Wheeewwww! Today I finished up two more assignments and actually caught up.

I left work on Wednesday in a very bad mood and upset with a supervisor. I was so discouraged about escaping that shop that I considered quitting. Now that God has given me peace, I feel much better and I know my opportunity to get a better job will come soon. I just felt like I needed to tell about some good things this weekend. I received word from my relative that it was okay that I post the pictures on the Internet so I unlocked the Thanksgiving photos where everyone can see them. I hope everyone else had a fine weekend and an opportunity to be thankful for all that you have.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We went to Wynnewood, Oklahoma to my grandmother’s house. We stopped going to her house before I went into the Air Force because my family always told me that she does not need the noise. We had a very good time. I took 157 photos and more than two hours of video. If you are family and logged into Flickr, you can see the photos here. My wonderful wife and my oldest son went down there yesterday and cooked all night for the family and my youngest son and I went today.

I really enjoyed this day and was able to completely relax. I am thankful for so much in my life and I owe it all to God, and Sunday. I was able to see so many relatives that I had not seen in years and it was really rewarding. Well since it is nearly midnight, I will say good night and wish the best to all of you.

Why I Do Not Use Digg.com

I ran across a post on Brett Kelly’s blog about why he feels that Digg.com and Reddit will fail. It is an opinion piece about the mentality of Digg.com users. He roughed a few feathers on Digg.com because of it but he is right. One of the reasons that I avoid that site is because of a topic that I have griped about a hundred times. It may seem that I have something against Google but that is not true. I just do not like the irrational Google Worship that goes on in the Tech community.

The Digg.com web site is the king of Google worship. I could modify this to be Google, Firefox, Apple, Linux worship. The passion that digg.com users have for promoting these products is only eclipsed by their hatred for other products such as Microsoft, Yahoo, AT&T. I can understand the sentiments to a degree but most of what you hear are the same things over and over and over. You hear the same story recycled about 500+ times. If you dare condescend to stand against these prevailing Digg.com thoughts, then you are bewailed as some sort of heretic.

Many Digg.com users are no different than myself, being just average non expert computer hobbyist that wants to learn more about the new toys out on the market. The problem with places like Digg, you are over come with “group speak” in which one never learns anything new because there is no diversity in the group. If everyone is of the same point of view, then everyone agrees and new ideas are not explored. I do think Digg.com is a good idea to some degree because it lets people “Digg” the stories they like, bringing their’s to the top of the list. Where it fails is having the “Bury” feature allowing people to bury a story. The ability to bury the story when the majority rules prevents opposing views from being heard. If you already have a well established group that all think the same, then other, more improved ideas never get a chance to get the word out. Better ways of doing something are stifled by the majority. Maybe I am being pessimistic in this story but that is my take. Let me know if you disagree.

My posts are indexed, but my tags aren't. What can I do?

I have cut and pasted this FAQ question from Technorati to explain why my posts are being indexed but the tags are not. I am posting this with Flock.

1) Check to make sure the tags are in the body of the posts. Our spiders parse the posts into it’s various sections such as the title, footer, and body. If the tags are outside of the post body, our spiders will not see them and they will not be indexed.2) If your blog home page displays summary information, make sure your tags are included in the associated Atom or RSS feed. This will probably mean displaying the full posts in your feed.3) Verify the format of the tag code. Please check to make sure you include a defined tag relationship of rel=”tag” for each link you would like indexed as a post tag.
A:UPDATE: WE’VE MADE ENHANCEMENTS SO THAT UPDATED AND ADDED TAGS SHOULD NOW BE PICKED UP AFTER THE POST WAS PUBLISHEDCheck to see if the Technorati tags were added after the post was published. Currently all new tags in new posts on the main page are indexed. New tags added to an old post that previously did not have tags or categories are considered an update and are indexed as well.
However, if a post has been indexed before, and some tags indexed before, then changing the tags, deleting or adding tags to the post do not get indexed. Since categories are considered as tags, these are picked up when the post is first indexed.

If you try to add tags to your posts after you have published your post with categories, then the new tags will not be seen. We are looking to provide changes and addition to tags once the post has been indexed as an enhancement in the future, but until then, please choose wisely!

If you add your Technorati tags when you first publish your post, then they should get picked up along with your categories.
