Photo Sneeze Reflex

I stumbled upon this article by someone that I saw on Twitter, also from Oklahoma City.  Ever since I was a kid I have sneezed when I would go outside into the sun.  I get the same result when I look at a bright light.  People have told me for years that I must be crazy and that it was all in my head.  Now I know there is actually a name for this called Photo Sneeze Reflex.  If you think that is funny, wait until you see the meaning of “ACHOO”.  The name for that is

Autosomal dominant Compelling Helio-Ophthalmic Outburst Syndrome.  This is just the same thing as Photo Sneeze Reflex.  I thought this was a pretty funny play on words but also proves that I am not totally insane… at least not about this :-) .

In other topics… Last night there was quite an amazing fireworks show downtown Oklahoma City.  As seen on my last post, yesterday was the 100 year anniversary of Oklahoma being a state.  There were celebrations all over the state but that fireworks show was so loud that I could hear the rumble over my television in my own house.  I live in Del City, about 4 miles to the South East of downtown Oklahoma City.  The weather could not have been better.  The temperatures approached 80 degrees and today is just as wonderful.  There are rumblings from the weather departments of local television stations that predict an arctic cold front in the next couple of days.  They are predicting high temp’s in the mid 40’s for Thanksgiving Day.

We are really looking forward to going to my grandmother’s house in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.  She is almost 89 years old and an absolute pleasure to be around.  She is such a good person and very funny.  At least when I get out of  the car and start sneezing, I will have an explanation this time.
