St. Patrick’s Day

As I kid I never put too much weight into St. Patrick’s Day as I really hated everyone giving me a hard time for not wearing green.  My mom was a little different because she was proud of her Irish heritage.  She would play the game all the way out.  She would go to the Bingo hall and wear the green clothes and hats and have a good time.  Yesterday was St. Patrick’s day and not a very good one.

We woke up and went to work but left early so we could take my wife to a doctor’s appointment.  As soon as we arrived, they called the hospital and told them that we were on our way.  My wife needed two blood transfusions and so we went to the hospital on an outpatient basis.  They had such a hard time getting a good spot to stick the needle that they poked her 12 times before settling on her neck.  I felt so sorry for her having to go through that.  It was a painful experience for the full day.  We finally got out of the hospital around 10:30 PM last night.

We were so tired when we got home that we went to bed and for the first time in years I slept for eight hours.  Obviously we decided to stay home today because we were so tired.  Also she has another doctor’s appointment.  Yesterday was a perfect day weather wise but we were in the hospital the whole day.  Also while we were in the hospital, Del City had three more earthquakes.  Last week we had one so that makes four in one week.  I am not sure what is causing them but their is rumor that it is directly related to all the oil drilling going on in our neighborhood.  There is an oil well less than a half mile from my house.  There are four or five others within three miles of my house.

The perfect weather has carried over and today is supposed to be 85 degrees.  I am glad that it stayed for when I could enjoy it.  This has been a very productive week and now that I turned in my first draft of my paper, I am waiting anxiously for my advisor to give me input.  I am so ready to have this thing behind me.  Hopefully next St. Patrick’s Day will be a little better without such an eventful day.  On the bright side, she is doing much better and some of the stress has subsided. I will keep you up to date on future events.  Sorry for not posting very often but my paper has been priority.
