Intolerant Tolerance
Over the last few weeks I have been trying to read the Bible and reaffirm the values that I’ve been taught since I was a kid. It seems that the Bible has been very accurate in its prophetic predictions of our modern day atmosphere. The world has become very hostile toward Christianity and though the country that I’ve lived in was founded on Christian values, it now is a very hostile place. If you don’t believe me, just ask Dan Cathy of Chick-Fil-A. His stand on the Biblical definition of marriage seems to have put him and his company in an unfair attack. This should be a surprise to no one because Jesus said in John 15:20, KJV…
Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater thanhis lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
The very fact that they are attacked for simply expressing an opinion should be evidence enough. We have reached a point in our society that people have allowed an opposing position to be defined as “hate”. This is absolutely crazy and makes no sense at all in its context. If you look at the situation as though it really is, it is clear to see that defining an opposing view as “hate” is simply an attempt to intimidate, or bully a person into silence. It is interesting how most of the people that claim that Bible believers are intolerant, are in fact more intolerant themselves. Their intolerance of other views is driven with such hatred that they cannot see common sense. They claim that Bible believers are hating people when in fact it is them that is filled with hatred of anyone who would dare oppose their point of view.
I think this is a sad situation because it shows that civility has crumbled to a point where it is non-existent. People cannot have a rational debate without jumping the gun and accusing the other person of spreading hate. It is very clear what is going on. Those that think this is an acceptable practice need to understand that the culture changes and could eventually go against them. We cannot tolerate this labeling people as hating when they have opposing views. Just because you happen to be on the side of the issue that is popular at the moment does not mean you will be next time. Everyone has said things in their lives that was popular at the time but later became unpopular. In fact the liberal media are bent on defending homosexuality as a normal practice instead of the depraved behavior that it really is. It is funny that you can see those defend the lifestyle now but you can find older movies where those same actors were bashing homosexuals.
I think they have realized this and have begun a new campaign to remove those words from movies. On several occasions, I have watched movies on TV where the actor would openly say Jesus C_ _ _ _ _. Then later in the show they will make a disparaging comment about homosexuals and it will be edited out. I am convinced that it is an attempt to cover their hypocrisy. It is okay to have differing opinions about life. It is not okay to try to silence, get people fired, ruin someone’s reputation simply because a person has a differing point of view. This is hardly what I would consider a civilized society.
