When it rains, it pours :)

This weekend I pretty much decided that I was going to get back on ham radio and installed them back in our cars for the first time in three years.  My first conversation on the air with my wife did not go so well since my Kenwood TS-2000 seems to have stopped sending audio with transmissions.

When I key the radio, it does transmit a dead carrier on all bands whether it is VHF or UHF and on HF if I use AM or FM but obviously not on SSB.  I changed the microphone and it still does not transmit.  I was thinking that maybe the microphone gain was turned off  but I verified that it was not turned off.  Well, I am hoping once I get a break and get my thoughts together, I will figure it out. I am doubtful that it is something broke but rather a setting.  It certainly is frustrating to see this radio not working right.  I bought this radio from Ham Radio Outlet in August of 2004 and remember how excited I was when it delivered.  This has been an awesome radio and covers virtually all of the popular VHF, UHF and HF bands.

I sure hope that it is not something physically burned out but I’ll see as I have more time to mess with it.  I’ll keep you posted.
