<p>The Digg.com web site is the king of <a title="http://www.paulmccord.net/2007/10/08/more-google-worship/" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=b72e13b7d6455e18bbeaeb5fc06dbc69&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.paulmccord.net%2F2007%2F10%2F08%2Fmore-google-worship%2F" target="_blank">Google worship</a>.  I could modify this to be <a title="http://www.google.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=dfaf383386bdad4f6c1b44b8c009c13e&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com" target="_blank">Google</a>, <a title="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=f7007e22c7b3ef58b71e127e9a7b6c0c&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mozilla.com%2Fen-US%2Ffirefox%2F" target="_blank">Firefox</a>, <a title="http://www.apple.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=36cf82bf7a2ea9762139503a0bfa4a85&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.apple.com" target="_blank">Apple</a>, <a title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=ce50c51aaf9e7373d4b1a155ea6961c8&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FLinux" target="_blank">Linux</a> worship.  The passion that <a title="http://www.digg.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=8cfabb46fa9a87195d488cb5e756b30b&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.digg.com" target="_blank">digg.com</a> users have for promoting these products is only eclipsed by their hatred for other products such as <a title="http://www.microsoft.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=2c78ad4246dd98325f76deb2e76ffbe7&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.microsoft.com" target="_blank">Microsoft</a>, <a title="http://www.yahoo.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=5e50834982085d64027d65b07b67d611&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.yahoo.com" target="_blank">Yahoo</a>, <a title="http://www.att.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=e94dbef869a148f392d838714b49c1e1&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.att.com" target="_blank">AT&amp;T</a>.  I can understand the sentiments to a degree but most of what you hear are the same things over and over and over.  You hear the same story recycled about 500+ times.  If you dare condescend to stand against these prevailing <a title="http://www.digg.com" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=8cfabb46fa9a87195d488cb5e756b30b&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.digg.com" target="_blank">Digg.com</a> thoughts, then you are bewailed as some sort of heretic.</p>
<p>Many Digg.com users are no different than myself, being just average non expert computer hobbyist that wants to learn more about the new toys out on the market.  The problem with places like Digg, you are over come with &#8220;group speak&#8221; in which one never learns anything new because there is no diversity in the group.  If everyone is of the same point of view, then everyone agrees and new ideas are not explored.  I do think Digg.com is a good idea to some degree because it lets people &#8220;Digg&#8221; the stories they like, bringing their’s to the top of the list.  Where it fails is having the <a title="http://www.digg.com/how" href="http://www.new.facebook.com/note_redirect.php?note_id=7520689803&amp;h=99f0e0e395d2e387fcf3a0cfb5dbfcff&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.digg.com%2Fhow" target="_blank">&#8220;Bury&#8221;</a> feature allowing people to bury a story.  The ability to bury the story when the majority rules prevents opposing views from being heard.  If you already have a well established group that all think the same, then other, more improved ideas never get a chance to get the word out.  Better ways of doing something are stifled by the majority.  Maybe I am being pessimistic in this story but that is my take.  Let me know if you disagree.</p>
